American college players will not be chosen to play on NWSL , as players around the world flood American shores for the money , leaving the majority of college players with no team to play on. This might kill a league. How does a bad team get good without a draft? They just have to overbid for players? Free agency for everyone. I will have to research this will be done. The leagues broadcast deal is 60 million a year. That is nothing. Lebron is almost going to make that next year. By 2030 a 5 million dollar salary cap. A 3 million dollar salary cap this year. 22 players on a team. You going to have a lot of women playing for nothing and a small group of high paid stars. The league will not make it to the end of this CBA.

NO DRAFT!!!! Now only the top 5 rich teams will win any awards. The competitive nature of the league is over , we in America have become EUROPE !!! The league of smaller teams are all has beens . The small teams 10 teams don’t stand a chance!!!

No thoughtful discussion about the Draft going away? What was the Draft's purpose? Fundamentally, what was the intended benefit for the league, which in turn would help the league benefit the players? Sure players don't like not having a say where they play their first years in the league. Okay, then sign a 1 year deal & become a free agent thereafter. Totally missing the point here, where the Draft benefits the league which in turn if the league is robust healthy & 'balanced', then the players benefit too.

How can they make no mention of the Washington Spirit when talking about which teams benefited the most with additions coming off the Summer break? ...The Spirit will be adding Leicy Santos, Rosemonde Kouassi & Esme Morgan. All three will fit into the team's Best XI. Santos & Kouassi are jaw-dropping talents. Santos technical skills are 2nd to 'none' in the league. Kouassi is 'faster' than Trinity Rodman while her self possessing crafty ball skills. Esme Morgan has been waiting for an opportunity to break out from behind all the senior talent that was ahead of her on Man City. She too is poised to shine in the NWSL. Keep an eye on the Washington Spirit following the break.

2011 World Cup team is when I started watching soccer, women's or men's, in any serious way. I followed the entire tournament. Before that I had only seen the famous 1999 World Cup final as a kid. So I'll always have a warm spot in my heart for player's like O'Reilly. I've been a fan of the USWNT team ever sense, which has translated into being a fan of my local team, Seattle Reign FC.

I totally understand the downside of a draft and I'm glad to see all the positive changes that the league is taking towards overall player well being and autonomy. Maybe this is an ignorant question but how will this not help the rich get richer and the poor get poorer? How will the league ensure parity with these new changes? A league where the same 3 teams are in the mix year in and year out is not as fun to watch. Super happy for all the rest of the positive changes though.

I especially like the allowance of charter aircraft. It really is best for the players and the away teams.

Did not hear the word parity. Maybe I missed it. This is all well and good for the players, but if team parity is lost then half or more of the games won't be worth watching. The NWSL is nothing without the fans. I hope we don't become like WSL or Spain, where three teams might win in WSL and Barcelona in Spain. Parity is what made the NWSL better than European leagues, and also sharpened our national team players who had to perform to their potential every week.

HOW IS THE NWSL GOING TO GET SOCCER PLAYERS FROM COLLEGE PLAYERS WITHOUT THE COLLEGE DRAFT AND WHY DID THE NWSL ELIMINATE THE COLLEGE DRAFT?

- Eliminating the draft looks like a win for the players and the sports agent industry. It might also be a win in disguise for sports journalism by placing a premium on investigative reporting vs. watching a multi-day event unfold S-L-O-W-L-Y. IMO, draft telecasts, regardless of sport or gender, are the equivalent of watching paint dry. - Getting traded is a jolt; good to see more control returned to individual athletes.

While I am jumping for joy, can’t help but think there are teams that will be hurt by this thinking specifically Utah, Racing, even Houston
